Hanging out with Daddy
Thankfully, San Antonio has a number of indoor play places so Eli and I have been visiting them to stay out of the heat. We went to a cute place called Minitown last week that is made up of several small rooms that all have different themes (ex. grocery store, a school, a disco room, a movie theater with kid-sized seats, a salon, etc). Eli's favorite room is the disco room where he loves to show off his moves. Ha! We went there with our friends Bobbie Ann and her 2 year-old daughter JuliAnn. It was fun to see the kids dancing together...it is especially cute when they make each other laugh!
In August, my sweet friend Laura Sanders also came to visit. Her husband, Chris, is deployed in Afghanistan, and they moved away from San Antonio a little over a year ago. Chris was actually Matt's roommate in college (and they were good friends in high school as they lived across the street from one another). It was great to be able to catch up with Laura, and she could not believe how much Eli has grown since she saw him last. Laura, myself, and a group of her girl friends here got to spend Laura's birthday night at 1 of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio...Fralo's. You gotta love gourmet pizza, live music, and good company!

Eli and I went to visit my sister and her family a few weekends ago while Matt was on-call. It was fun hanging out with his 3 cousins (and another 1 is on the way...Devon is due in October). They took us to the Children's Museum in Waco, and Eli had a great time. He especially loved to watch a model train go around and around the track that was set up, and he had fun running on the giant piano. It is a neat museum with many different activities for the kids to do.
The only time I could get all of them to sit still together

Matt's latest woodworking project has been building Eli a little table with 2 chairs. He thought of the plans in his head and everything turned out great! Eli loves to sit in his chair and watch his "dough" (show). Matt is almost done painting them (with some leftover brown and blue paint that we had), and I will post some update pictures when he finishes.

Lovin' his new chair

My friend Jenny and I also have started a "Kid Swap." She has a 2 year-old son named Jude (and a 4 month-old baby girl) so we take turns watching the boys one morning a week to give the other Mom a little break from toddlerhood. It is a great way for the boys to learn how to share and do some fun activities together. Jenny and I love it too because it gives us a little bit of free time to get some cleaning done, and Jenny can have some 1-on-1 time with her sweet baby girl. Last week, when I had the boys, we did some shaving cream painting in the bathtub. Jude and Eli had a lot of fun, and of course, the paint ended up on the boys too. :) When Eli's paint ran out, he just helped himself to Jude's...thankfully, Jude is good at sharing. Here are a few fun photos of them:

This past weekend, my Mom ("GiGi") came to visit. We were so glad that she was able to come! It did not take long for Eli to learn how to say "GiGi." On Saturday morning, they had a lot of fun playing together at the playground and in the backyard with the sprinkler...she wore him out so much on Saturday morning that he took a 3-hour nap that afternoon (which never happens)! My Mom also babysat Eli for us on Saturday evening so that Matt and I could have a date night. It was long overdue, and we really enjoyed it! We went to a nice Mexican restaurant here in San Antonio called Paloma Blanca (so good) and then watched a movie. Thank you, Mom, for making that possible! While Mom was here, we also did a lot of cooking. On Sunday, we made some fried shrimp that tasted very similar to Bonefish Grill's Bang Bang Shrimp...delicious! Mom made lemon-blueberry bars that are great with coffee. Eli was sad to see GiGi leave on Monday, but we should see her again soon.
