Chatterbox

Over the past few weeks, Eli has started to really turn into a little chatterbox...learning new words quickly (but not necessarily pronouncing them correctly, which just makes it cuter). His 2 favorite words (besides "Mama" and "Da da") are "dog" and "ball." Last weekend, we went to Houston to visit Dee Dee and Jackie, and Eli got to practice saying "dog" a lot as they have 2 dachshunds. Eli had a blast playing with them, especially with Maggie who loves children. He got licked from head to toe, and he even mastered the doggy door. :)

Some of Eli's other words:
-"buhball" for football
-"bubble"
-"bye bye"
-"night night"
-"hi"
-"stuck" (though he doesn't quite say it exactly like that..he definitely knows what it means and says it when he can't get his toys out of things or when he gets himself stuck)
-"na" for snack
-"nana" for banana
-"no, no" (wonder how he learned that one?! haha...he shakes his head from side-to-side too when he says it)
-"Pa Pa" for Paw Paw & Pop-Pop

Lately, he has also been enjoying dancing to music. I will turn on Toddler Tunes on our tv, and he will stand in front of it and bounce up and down. Sometimes, he will spin around too. It is pretty entertaining to watch!

He still loves playing in the sprinkler in the backyard. Since it has been so hot (in true San Antonio fashion), we have been doing that often. Eli has fun, and our grass gets watered so it is a plus-plus. :) Eli walks right up to the water and put his face in it..then he gasps for air because it is so cold. Then, he does it again!

Nothing too much else has been going on...Matt is almost done with his 2nd year of residency (crazy!), and he is beginning to take on the responsibilities of a PGY-3 ENT resident. He and the other 3rd year resident will be responsible for making the call schedule, presenting Tumor Board patients every week, and doing some other administrative duties. It will make his schedule even busier, but we will get through it one day at a time. Pretty soon (January 2012), he will be halfway done with residency..hard to believe!

(Hopefully, next time I will have some updated photos of Eli. My computer is not wanting to upload my pictures from my camera right now.)
